Paris Couture Spring/Summer 2014: Armani Prive

Giorgio Armani presented his Spring/Summer 2014 couture collection in Paris on Tuesday night. After the spiky hairstyles and Air Max trainers at Chanel, this show was all about the glitz and glamour of eveningwear - with an exotic twist.

Sinky silhouettes (loose trousers and maxi skirts) in navy prints were worn with Eastern-inspired tailored jackets and beaded headscarves. The look was relaxed and elegant but it was Armani's embroidered strapless gowns that really stole the show.

Layers of metallic fabrics in silvers and blues shimmered in a subtle, mysterious way. Okay, the colour palette wasn't as vibrant as the other Spring/Summer collections but this show was far from dull. These glittering dresses are the kind that girls dream of wearing. And we reckon Cate Blanchett will be the next to get her hands on one of them.
