Paris Couture Spring/Summer 2014: Valentino

Paris Couture Spring/Summer 2014: Valentino

No fashion house does romance quite like Valentino and the Spring/Summer 2014couture show was another brilliant example of this.

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli's theme this season? A celebration of nature.

Jungle scenes of lions, cheetahs and flowers were seen on billowing tulle skirts, capes were covered in butterflies and one design was embellished with a print of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.

There were flashes of leopard print and music scores too, as well as the most delicate of dresses - a ballerina's tutu. However, the show wasn't all about decoration.

Fuss-free maxi dresses in grey, tan and taupe were the perfect antidote to the embellished lace and silk pieces. These simple, oversized designs appeared all the more elegant next to the contrasting graphic gowns. And the effect was mesmerising.

We wonder who'll get their hands on the lion-print gown first...
