A toddler asleep in her buggy avoided tragedy after a horse bolted and threw its rider on to her at Dunster Country Fair.

These heart-stopping photos show the moment a horse spooked and bolted towards the crowd, throwing its rider into a buggy, which was thrown backwards. The little girl who was asleep inside the stroller was thankfully uninjured at the Minehead Harriers hunt meeting at Dunster Castle.

Photographer Gilly Davidson was photographing the event on July 24 when she captured the incident. She said she was amazed there were no injuries to the crowd, riders or horses:

"I could see there could be problems when the horse started to go. It was just one of those things. It bolted towards the perimeter where the spectators were and threw the rider off. She went over its head and onto the bonnet of a parked Land Rover.

"But then she fell off into a pram with a sleeping tot in next to the car. The child fell on to the floor while the horse was kicking and rearing just inches away from it. The hooves were just a matter of inches from it.

"The child looked about three years old. It all happened so quickly and was over in seconds. In the end there were no injuries but it was very, very close. It doesn't bear thinking about what could have happened."
