Pippa Middleton Takes Up Road Cycling Around London Despite Fear Of Clip-In Shoes

The Duchess of Cambridge's sister, Pippa Middleton, is taking up cycling.

While this is probably the most exciting news we've heard all year, we're not sure how the near-royal managed to write a 1,000 word column for The Telegraphabout her ventures on a road bike in Battersea Park. The mind, it boggles.

But anyway, it looks like you'll be seeing Pips in her lycra shorts, helmet and wrap-around glasses on the cycle highway in London on the regs.

The 30-year-old overcame her fear of clip-in cycle shoes and her utter distaste for biking gear. Then she borrowed a bike from Sir Chris Hoy (yes, really!) and treated herself to a lesson with Olympic champ Jonathan Edwards.

"It was a bit like learning to ride a bike all over again," Pips wrote. "But after a few laughs and wobbles I got the hang of it." Phew! What a relief.

"Thankfully, given the bitter wind, this wasn't a long ride," she added.

And in conclusion it seems Pippa is a bit of a cycling convert. "I shall certainly be less intimidated by urban cyclists... in the future after my brief initiation into their ways, and a road bike is now on my sporting accessories wish list."
