Prince George Meets A Butterfly In New Pictures Released On His First Birthday

Prince George's meeting with a butterfly was captured in new pictures released to mark his first birthday.

In one of two new photographs issued to celebrate the young royal's first birthday, Prince George can be seen pointing with intrigue at a butterfly which landed on his father Prince William's hand while being held by his mother Kate Middleton.

The images were taken during a visit to the Natural History Museum in London and were made public along with a statement from proud parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Thanking members of the public for the hundreds of presents, cards and letters of good wishes they have received since their son's birth last July they said they were truly grateful for all the messages from across the globe.

They said: "We would like to take this opportunity on George's first birthday to thank everyone over the last year, wherever we have met them, both at home and overseas, for their warm and generous good wishes to George and our family."

In the snaps Kate wears a very summery sapphire tea-dress by designer Suzannah, while George is dressed in blue and white stripped dungarees and a navy top by French label Petit Bateau, which sold out within minutes of another picture from the same set being released at the weekend.

The photos come as Kate was caught shopping on Amazon like some sort of normal human person! According to Elle Decor, Kate was reportedly doing some last-minute online shopping for George's birthday.

Eagle-eyed intern Irina who was processing an Amazon order for Jupiduu - a German company that makes little wooden slides for toddlers - when she noticed the shipping address read Kensington Palace. Cue major freak out in the Jupiduu office!

"Thank goodness Irina, our intern, became a little bit suspicious when she was processing the order," founder and managing director Ken Buschmann to Elle Decor.
