Prince William Flew Economy On His Way Home From Guy Pelly's Memphis Wedding

The Duke of Cambridge Prince William proved he's just like us mere mortals this week when he flew back home economy class - we repeat: economy class - after attending close pal Guy Pelly's wedding in Memphis, Tennessee.

We already knew Wills and his royal wife Kate Middleton were pretty frugal folk - we mean, how many times can Kate recycle those Russell And Bromley courts? - but it was still a bit of a surprise to see the Duke scrimping on travel when he's used to flying about on private jets (see the Royal Tour!).

The Prince was spotted by a beady-eyed passenger on an American Airlines flight from Memphis to Dallas on Saturday, and it seems they were just as amazed at us to see PW sitting comfortably in "coach".

"I am still amazed #Prince William flies COACH," passenger and local news reporter Eli Ross wrote on Twitter, alongside a snapshot of the back of William's head. "That's pretty humble/awesome. Who knew?"

According to the Daily Mail, William is "understood to have ordered water during the 1hour 30 domestic flight." Now was that still or sparkling?

This isn't the first time the royals have been spotted pinching the pennies while in transit. Back in the olden days of 2011 the Duke and Duchess caught a Flybe flight from Edinburgh to Manchester to attend the wedding of the Queen's granddaughter Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall.
