Simon missed the latest Britain's Got Talent auditions to fly over to New York by private jet to welcome his son into the world.
The little one, who arrived earlier than his 28 Febraury due date, was born at the Manhatten maternity ward where Beyonce also gave birth.
Simon was quick to tweet the baby's arrival and reveal its name. And despite previously joking that he wanted to name the newborn after himself (good one, Simon) he's taken a slightly more modest approach and named him after his late father, Eric.
Very happy to say Eric was born at 17.45pm. Healthy and handsome.

In comparison to the quirky celebrity baby names out there (North West, Blue Ivy, anyone?), Eric is a pretty conventional choice. Is this the start of a crazy baby name backlash?
