Whoa there! It looks like our favourite Girls are going up in the world...
When we first caught a glimpse of this promo shot for season three of our favourite US show, we got slightly concerned that the man in control of the HBO pursestrings had emptied out a vat of Sex And The City: The Movie gloss all over the gritty-cool characters that we love so much. And we all know how that turned out.
Thankfully though we can happily report that the glitzy ball gowns and swanky hotel suite are just a glossy wrapper. Our favourite girls will be just as straight-talking and real in the new season - phew! AND if you peruse the poster properly, you'll see that the gloss is indeed only on the top layer - similar to the show's many emotion undercurrents and sub plots.
The promo shoot stylist Shirley Kurata gave Fashionista.com an insight into the thinking behind the uncharacteristic picture: "It was decided from the beginning that they would be in gowns, but it wasn't so much to show the glamour of their lives, but the struggles and angst of their 'happily whatever after' existence. I call it the antithesis of the Cinderella story."
We can hardly wait to see what the new season brings.
