Whether it's a wedding or a night out with friends, there are two things that can make you feel incredible when dressing up for a special occasion.
First, the outfit. A sparkly new dress or sleek, statement-making jumpsuit can instantly transform your mood, posture and even your personality.
The second is your hair. Unless you're an absolute pro at styling your own, a quick visit to the salon is often what's required to add the finishing touches.
A Hollywood-worthy hairstyle can also do wonders for self-esteem levels before arriving at an important event - especially when there's a red carpet involved.
So, when the MyDaily team attended the UK Fashion & Textile Awards in May as its media partner, getting good hair beforehand was a must. We looked for a nearby, affordable salon who would be willing to squeeze four of us in during a lunch break, and Hershesons Blow Bar promised just that.
The brand has four salons across London, each dedicated to providing blow dries in 30 minutes or under. Their locations are super convenient too - you'll find them in Topshop, Westfield, One New Change and Selfridges. Handy.
Customers are asked to choose a style from 12 looks on arrival. The "menu" includes the Carlam crown braid plus the brilliant Bardot updo and they're all equally priced at £25.
I chose Wavy Gravy - a simple tousled down do - but what surprised me most was the speed my stylist worked at. My hair went from flat and lacklustre to perfectly tousled in a matter of minutes. (It's worth noting you can ask to skip the shampooing part if you're really watching the clock.)
Ellen Stewart, MyDaily's news and features writer, chose the Smooth Wavy style and was seriously impressed with the results.
"Having someone else handle your hair pre-glitzy event is heavenly and the experts at Hershesons blow dry bar are even happy to take on the responsibility of actually picking a hairstyle for you. I sat down in the hairdressers chair looking bedraggled and half an hour later with the glossiest mane you can imagine."
A quick visit to Hershesons will also remind you hair straighteners aren't always the answer to super glossy, straight hair.
"This place is case and point you don't need a pair of straighteners to style out the look - it's all about the art of a good blow dry and Hershesons are masters," MyDaily's style writer Daisy Sitch says.
