For French author Mireille Guiliano life starts at fifty. To prove that ageing gracefully is the secret to being happy and looking fabulous, she's published a new book - French Women Don't Get Facelifts: The Secret of Aging with Style & Attitude.
There's something about French women that just says allure and confidence. For Guiliano, French women are "very no-nonsense" and that it's all about mindset and attitude. The idea of preventing that natural ageing process with cosmetic surgery just doesn't register. It's not chic.
In an interview with The Daily Beast, Guiliano said that women are happiest in their sixties and seventies: "First of all, you know yourself and you have a confidence that you don't have in your twenties.
You have knowledge and experience - you feel good and comfortable in your own skin. You know how to dress and don't care about what people think or what people say. You're just yourself."
Why do French women still look amazing at sixty? Because they live by the idea that less is more - they're subtle, they're outgoing, they embrace beauty, food, friendships and never have facelifts.
