Tamzin Outhwaite has told the Daily Telegraph that juggling acting with being a single mother to her daughters Florence, six, and Marnie, two, has been hard.

Tamzin, 43, and her actor husband Tom Ellis, 35, best known as Gary in Miranda, divorced last year after seven years of marriage.

She said: "It's tough working as a single parent, but I'm lucky enough to have chunks of time when I'm at home and a huge circle of friends and family, although my biggest extravagance is child care. It's not as if I'm struggling financially ...my hat goes off to those who have that burden of worry as well."

At the time that news broke of their separation, blame was laid squarely on Ellis for an infidelity his wife was unable to forgive. But the actress, currently on TV screens in New Trick and in a new West End play Breeders with Angela Griffin, refused to be drawn.

"Of course, there's a part of me that wants to set the record straight, but I don't want to put any more stuff out there on to the internet for my children to end up reading. If the price for that is being seen in an unflattering light now, then it's one I'm prepared to pay," she said.

"I'm the sort of person who makes the best of things. I will always find a way to make things work, if I can. All I can say is that I believe I would have done anything to keep us together as a family but that wasn't what happened."

Earlier this year, former EastEnders star Tamzin said that despite the heartache of her marriage ending, she would be 'up' for romance. She said: "I'm not down on men or thinking I'm never going to get married again. If someone honest and kind came along I think I would be up for it but not right now! Not yet. I want to have a laugh."
