Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley has announced she is pregnant with her first child.

Catherine, who plays Eva Price in Corrie, has revealed that she is due to give birth in March 2015.

The 30-year-old actress says it feels '100 per cent right' that she and and her fitness trainer partner Tom Pitfield are about to become parents, despite the fact they have only been dating for nine months.

"I have felt strongly that being a mother is something I am supposed to do and when I met Tom I absolutely knew that he was the right person. It feels like the right time," she told Hello! magazine, adding that the pregnancy did come as something of a surprise.

"If you'd told me that before my next birthday I was going to meet someone as amazing as Tom, the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, and that we were going to be planning for our first baby, I would not have believed you in a million years... it's crazy," she said.

Coronation Street is going to be hearing the pitter patter of a lot of tiny feet on its cobbles soon, as Catherine's announcement makes her the third Corrie actress who is currently pregnant.

Jennie McAlpine, 30, who plays Fiz Stape, announced in May that she and her restaurant manager partner are expecting their first baby; and Paula Lane, 28, who plays Kylie Platt, announced on Twitter that she is also expecting her first child.
