New York Fashion Week: Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 2015

Hot on the heels of his Polo for Women launch earlier this week, seasoned New York Fashion Week veteran Ralph Lauren showcased his latest Spring/Summer 2015 collection on the catwalk.

The designer revisited one of his fashion tropes - sporty safari with an elegant edge - for his latest collection, creating a bevy of beige-and-bright ensembles that fans of late-80s cult film Troop Beverly Hills know even Shelly Long's character, Phyllis Nefler, would appreciate.

From the fitted ankle-length cargo trousers teamed with an asymmetrical purple silk scarf top as the first look out, Lauren's show was all about mixing sporty with chic: the neon bright trench over a crew-neck knit and suede jodphurs, the floaty silk skirt teamed with a sporty safari jacket, the khaki cargo top reworked as a halter for evening.

Classic sporty shapes - jumpsuits, cargo trousers and bomber jackets - were given day-tonight mileage thanks to luxurious fabrics: silks, suedes and (crinkled) satins.

Even finale gowns embraced the high/low element, as neon-bright tulle ball skirts were teamed with fitted tees and dramatic jewelled chokers while a safari shirt dress was transformed into a billowing satin ballgown.

Checking out the uniform to navigate the haute urban jungle? Julianne Moore and Daisy Lowe sat front row.
