This New York Fashion Week Nail Art Is Insane

While beauty went back to basics at the Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2015 show, The Blonds did the exact opposite with their latest look.

New York nail experts CND worked with the fashion house to create some of the most mesmerising nail art you'll see throughout fashion month.

The shapes were long and square, the colours were electric and the attention to detail was beyond incredible.

How was it done? Jan Arnold, CND co-founder and style director, spoke to Huffington Post Style backstage at the show.

Designers David and Phillipe Blond asked CND to run wild with their imagination when it came to creating nail art to complement the OTT hair and makeup.

"The guys are just like, 'Go for it, do whatever you think is right,' which is kind of cool because they trust us," Arnold said.

Speaking specifically about the designs, Arnold explained the creative process involved.

"So this is a heart against plaid, with a blood chain and pearl stripping," he said. "The chain was actually hand created using liquid and powder and then it's smoothed and filed. Practically every product in our product line was used to create this one look, which is amazing."

Other styles included a corset-inspired manicure with gold chains and nails embellished with individual roses.

So much for normcore nail art.
