Downton Abbey's Lady Grantham Kissed George Clooney!

Earlier in September it was confirmed George Clooney will make a guest appearance in series five of Downton Abbey. Hurrah!

Now more details of Clooney's experience on set with the show's stars Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery and Maggie Smith have been revealed.

As Vanity Fair reports, actor Tom Cullen (he plays Lord Anthony Gillingham) recently appeared on the Lorraine show to talk about the new series of Downton.

Luckily for us, Cullen also shared "behind-the-scenes" gossip and although he missed out on filming alongside the famous George, he did tell the world what happened when Clooney met Lady Grantham.

George did what every respectable man would do when greeting a 79-year-old dame and embraced her with a kiss.

How did the Dowager Countess respond? "She collapsed onto the sofa," said Cullen.

Who can blame her.

So, what else do we know about Clooney's Downton appearance? The actor will reportedly play an American wedding guest for a Text Santa charity special. It is believed he appears in the one-off charity sketch but not in the full Christmas episode.

Earlier this year it was reported Clooney and his fiancée, Amal Alamuddin, considered choosing Highclere Castle, the Hampshire estate where Downton Abbey is filmed, as the venue for their upcoming wedding.

The Guardian reports it has now been suggested that this was a cover story to keep his Downton cameo a secret.

LOVE GEORGE? Who doesn't?
