Being a popstar isn't always as glamorous as it looks and Kylie Minogue knows this more than most.
The 46-year-old star, who performed her first concert in 1989, is currently performing in arenas across Europe with her Kiss Me Once tour - the 14th show in her career history. Aside from singing her biggest hits and dazzling fans in her outrageously over the top outfits, Kylie's rigorous tour schedule requires her to be in the best physical condition she can be.
How does she do it? Kylie revealed a few of her fitness and wellness secrets in an interview with Rolls Royce. (There's a link here - she used one of the cars in her 'Skirt' tour video.)
"Having done so many tours now, I more or less know what I'm in for," Kylie said.
"It wasn't until the X2008 tour that I really acknowledged I am not only a performer on tour, but I am something of an athlete. This is funny to me because it's the last thing I would consider myself as... coping with the physical exertion and mentally navigating the ups and downs of touring."
When it comes to unwinding on tour, Kylie's not exactly what you'd call rock 'n' roll.
"I hate having to say it, but my down time on tour is quite boring," she admitted. "I just try to preserve my energy. I love hanging out with my team and finding something fun and distracting to do when I have the time. One thing that is tradition is to watch Spinal Tap on the tour bus."
Although she doesn't follow a strict diet plan, Kylie revealed her secret is to be sensible when it comes to what she eats and how she exercises.
"I like consistency where possible as there is so much change and activity most of the time," she said. "I eat sensibly, regularly, stretch, do vocal warm ups and warm downs. And try to sleep!"
And the one thing she misses most?
"As exciting as it is being on the road, it definitely presents some challenges and one of those is missing family and friends and a few home comforts. My own bed!"
