John Lewis Christmas Advert 2014: It's Here!

You know Christmas is coming when John Lewis launches its festive advertising campaign.

Fans of the 'The Bear and the Hare' story from 2013 or 'The Journey' from 2012 will be pleased to know that this year's ad is another tear-jerker.

The two-minute commercial stars Sam, a cute little boy, and his companion Monty the penguin. Sam and Monty are the best of friends, but Monty is lonely - he's missing a penguin partner in crime. So, in true John Lewis ad style, Sam goes on a mission to make Monty's wish come true...

With Tom Odell's cover version of John Lennon's 'Real Love' as the soundtrack, 'Monty the Penguin' is sure to tug at a few heartstrings when it makes its TV debut on Friday night (look out for it in the ad break during Channel 4's Gogglebox.)

It's the seventh John Lewis advert by British director Dougal Wilson. The film is said to have cost £1million to produce and is part of the brand's £7 million Christmas campaign.

"We hope this uplifting tale of Sam's love for his friend Monty will remind people of the magic of Christmas through a child's eyes and inspire them to think how they can make the festive season extra special for their friends and loved ones," John Lewis' marketing director Craig Inglis said in a statement.
