Supermodel Fitness Tips From Karlie Kloss

Jennifer Lawrence might follow an intense Hunger Games workout for her role as Katniss Everdeen, but you also have to admire fashion stars like Karlie Kloss who put in hours at the gym all-year-round.

In an interview with the New York Times, Kloss - who is starring in the new Nike campaign - shared her thoughts on common fitness dilemmas...

Here's what we learned from the American beauty...

1. On yoga vs Pilates

"I enjoy yoga, but I'm a huge Pilates fan," the 21-year old revealed. "Pilates relies on isolated, controlled movement and has allowed me to build up my core and strengthen my legs and arms."

2. On outdoor workouts vs in the gym

"During the cold, snowy winter months in New York, there's no other option but to head to the gym," Kloss said. "When it starts to get nice out, I love to take advantage of the beautiful weather and exercise outdoors by going on a hike or bike ride."

3. On protein shakes and smoothies vs a healthy diet

"It's so important to nurture your body, especially when you're exercising and moving constantly. Your body needs fuel to stay healthy and strong. Nothing can substitute a balanced diet." *Throws away blender*

4. On working out alone or with friends

For Kloss, taking classes with pals is more fun, however, she also warned "it's important that your workout routine is not dependent on someone else's schedule."

5. On staying motivated

If you need some fitspiration, Kloss recommends the app Nike Running Club. It's a "great substitute for a personal trainer," she said.
