What do you think would happen if a group of boys were asked to slap a girl?

Would you be shocked if they hit her? Or not even surprised?
Well, here's the answer – captured on video for a social experiment that has been viewed on YouTube more than 7 million times.
An Italian video journalist called Luca Lavarone conducted a social experiment with children on a busy street, to highlight the issue of violence by men against women.
He filmed several boys – aged between six and 11 - as they are introduced to Martina - a young girl of around the same age as them - before being asked questions about her.
While they're all a little shy, they have no problem in revealing what it is they like about Martina.
When asked to make a funny face at her, none of the boys hesitated.
But then comes the disturbing final request.
"And now slap her," urges the cameraman, who is off-screen. "Slap her, hard."
What do you imagine happens next?
Well, you'll be relieved and happy to learn that all the boys' look seriously at the camera before shaking their heads.
They're asked why and all defiantly give their answers.
The first says: "'Cause she's a girl, I can't do it!"
The next replies: "Because you're not supposed to hit girls."
Another says: "I don't want to hurt her."
And one exclaims: Jesus doesn't want us to hit others!"
But the final boy gives the sweetest answer: "First of all, I can't hit her because she's pretty and she's a girl. As they saying goes, 'girls shouldn't be hit, not even with a flower... or a bouquet of flowers!'"
