Shakira has given birth to baby number two with her footballer boyfriend Gerard Piqué - a boy they've called Sasha.

Already parents to two-year-old Milan, the couple welcomed the new arrival at around 11pm yesterday (29 January).

An announcement on Shakira's website said: "We are happy to announce the birth of Sasha Piqué Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Piqué, born January 29 at 9:54pm, in Barcelona.

"The name Sasha is of Greek and Russian descent and means 'defender of mankind' and 'warrior'."

The Colombian superstar, famous for her hip-shaking hits like Whenever, Wherever and Waka Waka, revealed she was expecting again back in August. In line with her usual breezy, down-to-earth attitude, when asked about the pregnancy rumours by the Mexican edition of Cosmopolitan, she didn't beat around the bush, saying: "Well, yes - the truth is I am pregnant."

Shakira, 37, is said to have opted for a scheduled caesarean section at the same hospital where she gave birth to Milan in 2012, in Barcelona.

Despite both her sons being born in Spain, where Gerard plays for F.C Barcelona, we can definitely expect the newborn to be taking a trip back to his mother's homeland as soon as she gets the chance.

Last year, we were treated to some adorable pictures of Shakira taking Milan, then one, to Colombia to get his passport - as well as help his famously charitable mum open a new school in the South American country. And even being eight months pregnant hasn't slowed down her work for good causes - she and Gerard appeared together on behalf of Unicef last week to encourage pregnant women to join a 'World Baby Shower' by buying gifts that will help vulnerable children around the world.

Now that we are soon welcoming our second child we want to help other children around the world and also contribute to a long-lasting solution for getting children living in extreme poverty the supplies they need to survive," said the singer, a longstanding supporter of the charity.

Let's hope she's having a chance to put her feet up now!
