A mum has been arrested after she made her daughter wear a humiliating T-shirt shaming her poor school grades.
Melany Joyce Alexander, 30, forced her daughter to wear the homemade shirt banning her from having friends until she turned her F-grades into C's.
The handwritten message on the shirt read (with names blocked out):
"My name is XXXX. I currently have all F's (sic) in all of my classes I am not aloud (!) to have a boyfriend no time soon. So back off before I get another good woopin like I got last night.
Also I can no longer have any friends until all of my F's are all brought up to C's and up!!! So unless you are helping me with this goal back off!!!
My eating French fries & being a social butterfly is over because I know why my parents send me to school. I now know the importance of my education.
I will learn. I will listen to my teachers and be respectful at all times. I will do these things because I am failing XXXX due to my social life.
Want to be my friend :) Help me by not!!!"
However, the hand-written - and, ironically, poorly spelt - shirt of shame was only the tip of the iceberg of the mother's allegedly cruelty to her child, a middle school pupil in Hernando, Florida.
According to police documents, the girl was beaten with a 'leather belt with holes and metal divots', marking her arms, neck, chest, back and legs.
Teachers called police after becoming concerned about her welfare when the child arrived at West Hernando Middle School last Friday
The Department of Children and Families decided the mother-of-six's alleged punishment was 'excessive' and she was arrested for child abuse.
