‘Coronation Street’ bosses have an emotional storyline planned, as according to reports, Erica - played by Claire King - is set to suffer a miscarriage.
The cougar returned to Weatherfield to break the news about her pregnancy to Nick Tilsley last week, however, Erica’s happiness isn’t set to last.
A source tells The Sun: “Erica’s pregnancy was a shock for viewers but her miscarriage will be even more of a shock.
“This was initially seen as a chance for ‘Corrie’ to explore the issue of older women coping with pregnancy.
“Nobody expected it to end this way. It’s one of a series of heartbreaking storylines lined up in the coming months.”
The paper adds that the scenes, which were filmed last month, will show Erica being rushed to hospital after suffering from stomach pains during a night in the Rovers.
The storyline is one of a number of bigger plots about to develop in the soap.
One person who probably won’t be tuning in though, is ‘Great British Bake Off’ judge Mary Berry.
The former life-long ‘Corrie’ fan recently revealed that she no longer watches the soap, stating: “I want something a little bit happier on my television, something gentle that’s not going to disturb and worry me.”
