Romance isn't dead. And this Instagram account sets out to prove just that.

'The Way We Met' tells the stories of how couples first met. From the avid YouTubers who met at an event, to the couple who first clapped eyes on one another when they were covered in mud at their local harvest festival, their tales are truly wonderful.

Brooklyn Sherman, who founded the account, tells HuffPost UK Lifestyle that she was always fascinated by love and relationships.

"I had my heart broken at an early age and a couple of times since. I also broke a few hearts myself along the way. What I've realised personally is that through all of it, I've never given up on love.

"I guess you could say I'm a hopeless romantic."

Sherman noticed that marriage rates had dropped significantly since the 1960s and was fed up of her social media feeds being jam-packed with "glamourised" images of people's lives. So she decided to do something about it.

"One of my missions is to motivate people to get back into the world and start experiencing real life again, not just going out for their next best social media post," she reveals.

"The insecurities bred from social media are hindering peoples' belief that they are worthy of love. The truth is, love is out there, and The Way We Met is putting those stories on display.

"Maybe if they see all these wonderful stories of how people found true love in the most random of places at the most random times, they will stop feeling hopeless and hiding at home."

"One of my friends who lives in LA posted pictures of this eligible bachelor named Jeremy on Facebook, with a short paragraph about him. I was living in Florida at the time but about to move to California for graduate school, so I took the plunge and messaged him on Facebook. We ended up talking for 3 hours straight and realized we had a lot in common. He offered to pick me up from the airport upon the arrival of my one-way flight to LA, and of course I said yes. Jeremy and I had some mutual friends on Facebook so I texted them to be safe and make sure he was a good guy. I also checked in with friends and family as this was going on. We hit it off INSTANTLY that night and 4 days later we decided to be boyfriend/girlfriend. It's been 9 months now and we are happy, in love, and best friends."

"I met my boyfriend Alec through my best friend Danielle. Danielle and I went to high school together in Dallas, where we grew up. However, we went different routes for college; she attended the university of Arizona and I went to the university of Oklahoma. While in college, Danielle was looking to connect with people who also grew up in Dallas, and that's when she met Alec. Her and Alec grew to be best friends. During one of our breaks from school, Danielle planned a get-together and that's when Alec and I were introduced and instantly hit it off. We got to talking about our families and discovered that our Dads have been friends since second grade AND were college roommates their freshman year! What are the odds! They lost touch over the years but because of our relationship, have now reconnected. Alec and I love to hear all of their old stories from when they were kids. We are about to celebrate our three year anniversary."

"I met Jon when I was in 4th grade. I was instantly attracted to his long locks and good looks, but during our short time dating I caught a Hussie sitting on his lap. I broke up with him and he wrote me a letter trying to win me back, which I actually still have, but I wasn't convinced. We went on to different high schools and only had an occasional run in at 7-11 and a coffee shop. After high school, I went to Parsons in New York to study fashion. It wasn't until 2012 when I was visiting Michigan for a little R&R, that I went to a house party and heard someone yell "Jamie!?" I turned around and sure enough it was Jon. We ended up talking on the porch all night, but it wasn't enough. We found ourselves flying back and forth from New York to Michigan to visit each other and had many Skype dates. I would make him "sit with me" while I had dinner and would bring him into the bathroom while I was brushing my teeth. Jon passed the bar to become a lawyer and finally moved to New York to be with me. Tonight we were married"

“We met on November 26th, 2012. I live in Copenhagen and he lives in the UK, but we met at a Swedish House Mafia concert when he was visiting Copenhagen. According to him, he spotted me and followed me outside to talk to me. We had our first kiss that night and he asked me to be his girlfriend a month later. Since our relationship is long distance, we have to skype to keep in touch. The first couple of times, I noticed he had a giant stuffed Panda in the background. He said, “My grandma gave it to me when I was born and I haven’t had the heart to get rid of it, it’s my greatest possession.” When he came to visit me for the first time in January of that year, we exchanged belated Christmas presents. I bought him a Panda to say, “just so your other Panda isn’t lonely anymore.” To my surprise, when we exchanged gifts, he got me a Panda also!! Our nickname for each other has been Panda ever since. We are just two Panda’s in a long distance relationship.”

"Early in 2013, I went to a psychic and the woman told me I was going to fall in love, and when I met that person, I would know immediately. She mentioned he was artistic, as was I, but we wouldn't share the same medium. She also said he would appreciate my quirkiness. On Memorial Day of 2013, I moved into Chris' building for my art residency. He was the RA on my floor and immediately noticed me in my eclectic purple jeans. I noticed him too. When I first walked into my room, I realized I didn’t have a bed and the ceiling above my shower was peeling. Chris came to my rescue, bringing me a brand new mattress and after enough pestering, repaired my ceiling. A few days later, Chris took the plunge and left a handwritten note on my door. We went on our first date a week later and the rest is history!"
