If you've been ogling your hot co-worker for a while now but haven't made a move, we have news for you.
Don't go in guns blazing just yet.
According to science, if you want to date someone who's super attractive then you need to put some serious graft in first.
And by this we mean make friends with said hot person, get to know them and let your relationship organically bloom into something beautiful.
The appearance of the participants was then judged by undergraduates.
The study revealed that attractive couples were more likely to begin dating within a month of meeting.
Meanwhile couples who had more varied levels of attractiveness (basically one person was hotter than the other) had an increased likelihood of being friends for a while before getting together.
"There may be more to the old saying than was previously thought," said lead researcher, Lucy Hunt from the University of Texas. "Maybe it’s the case that beauty is partially in the eye of the beholder, especially as time passes."
If you want to find out more, the study has been published in the journal Psychological Science.
We're just glad the dreaded "friend zone" doesn't exist, after all.
