In the 1910s, swimwear was designed to make men look big and bulky...
Then regulations introduced in the 1920s dictated that men had to wear a skirt over their trunks to hide their modesty...
Abs were finally allowed on display after the ruling in 1937 that men could go topless...
And let's not forget the invention of the speedo in the 70s...
