Hitting the Ground Running

Today is my first day back in the office with what looks like to be a fairly busy week ahead of me. I will be attending the National College of Police Leadership Board of Governors meeting on Tuesday, the Association of Police Authorities Council meeting on Wednesday and Senior Appointments Panel Meeting on Thursday - so I've hit the ground running as they say.......

The Authority launched its Safer Kent Awards on 26 September and we'd really like to hear from anyone who would like to nominate an individual who has gone above and beyond in their role. Nominations can be made by anyone and the categories are for Police Officer of the year, Police Staff of the year, Team of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Police Community Support Officer of the year, Special Constable of the year, Community Warden of the year and Lifetime Achievement Award.

You may remember that last year the Lifetime Achievement Award was won by a member of police staff who was instrumental in setting up the early stages of the Partners and Communities Together panels (PACT) as well as being central in moving on our CCTV partnership scheme.

So please do visit our website at www.kentpoliceauthority.gov.uk to find out more and make this our most memorable event yet.....

Finally, last week whilst the rest of the office enjoyed the last of the summer warmth, I have to say that very little of that sunshine reached us in the Scottish Islands where I was on holiday, but the bad weather didn't stop me from having a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing time away.
