Lenten Prayers: What To Pray During Lent, Ash Wednesday 2010

With Lent beginning today, Ash Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, Catholics may be looking for Lenten prayers for this holy season.

Paul Dobbyn of the Catholic Leader describes in a recent article how prayer is the key to Lent, a time of "magnificent preparation."

Here is a common Lenten prayer:

Lenten Prayer

Almighty and Everlasting God,
You have given the human race
Jesus Christ our Savior as a model of humility.
He fulfilled Your Will by becoming Man
And giving His life on the Cross.
Help us to bear witness to You
By following His example of suffering
And make us worthy to share in His Resurrection.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son.

Additionally, Online Ministeries at Creighton University has posted a Lenten prayer for this season, Feb. 17 to March 31. And this PDF file contains a series of "Lenten prayers for busy people."
