Although we are already in March, I thought it was a pertinent time as ever to discuss the seve stylish and fashionable bridal trends for 2014 that I think are impossible not to fall in love with. Regular followers of Style & the Bride will know I love absolutely everything to do with elegant bridal style, and how to achieve it. If you want to ensure you are one step ahead when it comes to looking very up to date when it comes to wedding trends, read on.. Do let me know if you have a favourite look.

1) Pastels

Burberry's Spring/Summer 2014 campaign was all about the 'English Rose' and beautiful pastel sugary shades such as pretty pink, mint green, baby blue etc. Pastels are not only big news for 2014 but they don't date in the world of bridal as they will always be popular.

2. Old Fashioned romance/demure

This year, it was all about bridal dresses with sleeves, a nod to a more 'old fashioned', slightly demure look, that always works beautifully in bridal.

3. Decadent detailing

Exquisite attention to detail, whether that be through intricate lace, appliqué flowers or delicate sequins is definitely on trend at present. Not only do dresses with these details look particularly striking, but they are gowns that will stand the test of time.

4. Lace

I LOVE lace. Long before The Duchess of Cambridge wowed the world in her lace Alexander McQueen wedding gown, I have been a fan of the beautiful material. For those of you who think lace is just a passing fad, think again. Lace is fashionable at the moment, but also timeless. One only has to remember Grace Kelly's exquisite lace Helen Rose wedding dress (many say this was the inspiration for the Duchess's dress) to see how lace has stood the test of time.

5. She's a lady.

The Duchess of Cambridge and Pippa Middleton know all about dressing in a 'ladylike' style for weddings, and 'ladylike' dresses for bridesmaids are big news in 2014 and will continue to be so for many years to come. One of my favourite designers Oscar de la Renta, who dresses some of Hollywood's most glamorous A-list stars, Spring/Summer 14 show was all about 'ladylike' outfits.

6. Statement pieces

Whether it is your dress, flowers, or cake, make one or all of these truly unique/special. Not only will your guests remember your wedding for all the right reasons, but so will you!

7. Art Deco style.

Move over Gatsby, Art Deco is all the rage now. Australian designer Johanna Johnson's Spring/Summer 14 collection was a homage to old Hollywood art deco style and this look is perfect for brides who love everything to do with glamour.
