British Parents Forget Their Son At Swiss Petrol Station

In a situation similar to that of Macaulay Culkin in cult movie Home Alone, a 'forgetful' British couple left a Swiss petrol station - without their son.

The couple stopped at a service station in Switzerland, filled up with petrol and then drove off. They assumed their 12-year-old son was still asleep in the caravan they were towing.

Twenty minutes later they stopped to check on the boy, and realised that he had disappeared. The concerned couple came off the A2 motorway and tuned back on themselves. However, a wrong turn led them to arrive at the centre of the city of Basel, leaving them to ask police for directions.

Two hours later, the couple finally retuned to the service station where their son was being cared for by staff.

A member of staff told a local newspaper "The child told us that while his parents were filling up with petrol, he got out of the caravan and went to look round the shop."

"But when he came back, his mum and dad had vanished."

"He was very calm about it all, saying his parents were often "forgetful" and that he was sure they'd be back to get him soon"
