A three-year-old girl has been mauled by an Asiatic black bear at a zoo in Germany.
The girl, who has not been named, is said to have climbed a three foot high fence around the animal's enclosure at Luenebach Zoo and fallen into the pen. A 28-year-old bear then attacked her, wounding her forehead.
The child's father clambered in after her and was bitten on the leg by one of the animals. An air ambulance later flew the pair to hospital in Trier.
A police spokesman said they were investigating possible negligence by the zoo or the girl's parents.
