Herve Leger A/W 2010: Backstage At New York Fashion Week

MAKEUP: Lisa Butler for MAC

HAIR: Bob Recine for Moroccanoil

NAILS: Angi Wingle for CND

SNAPSHOT: Young hair, grown-up makeup

THE SCOOP: Herve Leger by Max Azria is not for shy girls - body-con dresses with eye-catching embellishments are the name of the game. Think grown-up glamour without the stuffiness. In keeping with this idea, the hair and makeup also had a sophisticated-but-youthful twist. "We're doing a matte, red lip," said Butler. "It's quite sharp - not rounded at all. Like old-school glamour, very strong." But to keep it from overtaking the girls' faces, Butler did very little makeup elsewhere and skipped mascara.

While the makeup was quite sophisticated, the hair was purposefully undone and youthful. It was, in fact, inspired by the way the models show up backstage. "It's an undone ponytail - not extremely brushed or worked," said Recine.

GET THE LOOK - MAKEUP: Butler used MAC Lady Danger Lipstick and defined the eyes with Technakohl Liner in Plank, a milk-chocolate brown.

GET THE LOOK - HAIR: First Recine sprayed Moroccanoil Luminous Hair Spray through the hair. Then, using only his hands, he formed the hair back into a low ponytail and scrunched the tail with his hands to give it undone texture.

GET THE LOOK - NAILS: Fingernails were kept clean and natural with a sheen, courtesy of Solar Oil. On the toes Wingle used CND Desert Suede which is an opaque nude color that "look like tan tights, but shiny. It goes with any skin tone."
