Tragedy As 4-Year-Old Boy Kills His Newborn Brother In Car Horror

A newborn baby has died after his four-year-old brother ran him and their mother over in the family's Chrysler mini van.

The four-year-old boy was playing inside the vehicle when he managed to start the engine. His mother, hearing the car start, rushed out of their trailor home in Burleson, near Fort Worth,Texas with her newborn baby son in her arms. Mother and child ended up under the wheels of the car.

The baby, named as Chase Bates, was born on September 4th. He died at the scene, whilst his mother remains critically injured in hospital.

A neighbour told reporters that he saw the mini-van rolling and heard screaming: 'As I got closer, I noticed it was a person underneath the vehicle. She didn't appear to be breathing. I immediately started lifting up the vehicle so I could pull her out, and at that time she looked like she had taken a breath again. When I saw the baby it was quite blue at the time, gasping for air, and it didn't look good.' .

The County's Medical Examiner said the baby died on the scene from blunt force head injuries. A police spokesman said the three week old's death was a 'tragic accident'.

'The mother heard the vehicle start and came running out with her baby infant in her arms, tried to stop the vehicle and was struck by the vehicle,' said Burleson Police Commander Cindy Aaron, 'It's a tragic accident. I can assure you that everyone that was on the scene, paramedics, the fireman, the police officers, they were all affected by what they saw.'
