Kate Moss unveiled a new eye-skimming fringe at Brian Ferry's album launch last night. Teaming the look with kohl-rimmed eyes and a black shaggy fur jacket, the super looked every inch the rock goddess.

The long fringe, reminiscent of 60s rock muse, Marianne Faithfull, is befitting for Ms Moss who has become something of a rock muse herself.

Gracing the cover of Ferry's new record, Olympia, Kate reclines on a bed wearing nothing but a bed sheet, a diamond necklace and a slick of red lipstick.

Ferry said: "I normally use unknown women – it's nice to discover girls for that kind of thing. But this time I thought it would be a good idea to ask Kate, because she's a great femme fatale of our era.

"And it turns out she was delighted to do it, she was a big fan of the music, and it worked out fantastically."

From eye-skimming to short and choppy nothing says, "I love rock 'n roll" quite like a good fringe. From Emporio Armani (left) to Erin Fetherston (right)and more, the catwalks paid homage to rock heroines like Joan Jett and Patti Smith. Bangs are back with a bang.

At Lanvin (right), kohl-rimmed eyes peeped out from beneath heavy black fringes so straight they could have been cut with a spirit level. At Versace, the look was choppy and long, almost coming down over the eyes.

The epitome of rock 'n' roll femininity, Joan Jett has been catapulted back into the limelight following the release of The Runaways, a film about the 70s all-girl rock band that was the catalyst to the iconic star's career. Jett, played By Kristen Stewart, is set to start a rock 'n' roll style-revival. Forget 'I'm with the band', this look says, 'I'm in the band.' A rock star fringe is the perfect nod to rebellion for those who feel too old to go the whole hog.

Rub a tiny amount of anti-frizz serum through soaking wet hair after washing and before blow-drying to eliminate any flyaways and create a sleek and shiny finish.

Blow-dry using a round brush so the hair lies flat but not too flat – you want it to follow the natural curve of your face. The curve will reflect light and enhance the shine.

To blitz kinks, curls and cowlicks, straighten with a pair of mini flat-irons. But again, direct them in a curved motion moving inwards towards the brow. Don't curl right under though – you don't want to look like a 50s cheerleader.

To give the look staying power, with one hand over your eyes to protect them, spritz with a light mist of fixing spray. Use sparingly as you want the finish to be soft with some movement, not stiff and crispy.
