Asos has launched Marketplace, an online destination that comprises virtual stores from boutiques like Browns Focus, vintage collectors, individuals and designers - established or undiscovered, allowing them sell their fashion to the world.
Anyone can list items (for free), and the site is billed as a fashion democracy that is created and controlled by users.
The idea is to promote fast fashion with an emphasis on individuality, and with independent and specialist boutiques on board, things can be designed, uploaded and sold within the week. Recycled and vintage are also given prime position.
