Last-Minute Party Hair Ideas: Big-Tease Updo

Blast-dry the hair to dry the mousse in and create the texture we want.

Use a bristle brush to blow-dry the hair section by section to create a smoother, more polished finish but without being super-straight as you still want to work with that distressed texture.

Take a triangular section of hair from the front taking it from the corner of the brow to just in front of the crown on both sides. Twist this section loosely and hold it out of the way with a section clip.

Backcomb the rest of the hair section by section using a comb, starting at the roots and working out to the ends.

Pull the hair back into a high ponytail at the crown, hiding the hair's natural parting. Secure in place with a bungee elastic (a strip of elastic with a hook on each end). Hook one end into the base of the ponytail, wrap around tightly and then secure the other hook back into the hair.

Create a high bun by tucking the ends of the ponytail under and securing to the underside of the ponytail base with pins.

Remove the section clip from the front of the hair and backcomb the roots to create height. Smooth over with a comb, twist the ends of the hair then secure under the bun with pins.
