Check out part one of our guide to easy updos you can do at your desk, to take you from the office to the office Christmas party.

First, up we asked Richard Mannah, Toni & Guy Artistic Director, to show us how to create a mussed-up bun; a look that's glam without looking too formal.

Use product to prepare the hair. Here Richard used label.m Volume Mousse, £10.95, to add texture to Camilla's hair and make it easier to manipulate.

Next, blast the hair with a dryer to dry the product into the hair and get rid of any crispy texture.

In preparation for tonging, lift the top section of hair out of the way with a section clip.

To create a soft wave in the hair - as opposed to a structured curl - use large-barrelled curling tongs and curl the hair in quite big sections, about one-and-a-half inches wide.

To create added volume at the crown, work the tongs through the roots of the hair in the crown area.

The look should be soft and undone, not formal and wedding-like, so deconstruct the waves with your fingers.

Gather the hair back into a ponytail and secure in place using a bungee elastic (a strip of elastic with a hook at either end). Hook one end into the base of the ponytail, wrap the elastic around nice and tightly and then hook the other end in to secure the ponytail.

Hide the band by taking a section of hair from the top of the ponytail and wrapping it around. Pin in place and then mist with hairspray while blasting with a dryer.
