Best Babysitters? Grandparents And Supernanny Jo Frost Top Poll

A report on babysitting trends has found that grandparents are the first port of call when mums and dads need a childminder.

The UK Babysitter Trend Report conducted by Parentchannel.tv found that 63.6 asking their dads.

Professional babysitters and babysitting circles proved unpopular choices, with just 4 of respondents opting for them.

The report also revealed that parents were unlikely to pay their mum and dad for minding the children - when asked how much they usually pay the person who looks after their child per hour, the majority (46.9 who said £1-£5, and 23.01% who said £6-£10.

Jacqueline Harding of Parentchannel.tv said:

'Families are probably more likely to turn to grandparents to babysit in a recession. For those parents who don't have family members nearby, our new video gives lots of tips on finding a good babysitter.

'Whether you use a family member, professional babysitter or a local teenager, it's a good idea to leave a list of emergency contact numbers for them and check that they know what to do if something goes wrong.

'Making sure you have the right babysitter who both you and your children trust is essential, otherwise you'll end up spending time worrying."

When asked who would be their preferred celebrity babysitter, TV's SuperNanny Jo Frost came out tops, closely followed by Davina McCall and Lorraine Kelly. Simon Cowell came 6th on the list, with Lily allen being the tenth most popular choice.
