Does This Child Have The World's Strangest Talent?

Life can be confusing for children. We spend years telling them not to put stuff in their mouth for fear of choking, then along comes a child who achieves worldwide fame for doing just that.

Take a look at ten-year-old Sophia Heesch from Germany. She astounded viewers of a German TV show recently by displaying what has to be one of the strangest talents ever – she can identify Star Wars Lego pieces using only her mouth:

What I want to know is, how do you even know you have a talent like that? Was she just sucking on some Lego one day and thought, "Mmm, tastes like Yoda"? What does her little brother have to say when his favourite figures are all covered in slobber?

Sophia was appearing on the German TV show "Wetten, dass..?" (or "Wanna, Bet..?"). The blindfolded Heesch allowed the plastic figures to be popped into in her mouth while the audience looked on in astonishment as she identified them ("Prinzessin Leia!"). Either they were impressed or wondering if it was an early April Fool.

In tribute to Sophia, I am thinking of developing an act where I identify bits of Lego with my feet. I figure that I've trodden on enough of them in my time that there must be a way to turn it into a moneyspinner.

What do you think of this? Is it a talent to encourage? Can your child do anything stranger? Leave a comment below
