Previously impossible situations such as eating out, travelling and long queues have been transformed with the diversion of an app.
Over the last year, the range and quality of apps has exploded and now kids' apps cover all topics, from wildlife videos to musical phonics, drawing, cup cake baking and themed games.
The only hitch is wrestling your iPhone back out of the sticky paws of your kids when it rings.
