Sean Price, the Chief Constable of Cleveland Police, and his deputy, Derek Bonnard, face another day of questioning following allegations of corruption and fraud. The pair were arrested yesterday and spent the night at a north Yorkshire police station. The Chief Constable's solicitor, Caroline Llewellyn, who was also arrested, has since been released on bail.

The arrests follow an investigation by Warwickshire Police, who were called in to oversee an inquiry into police corruption inside the Cleveland Police Authority in May. The chair of the police authority resigned when it was revealed he was under investigation.

Yesterday's arrests came on the same day that the chief constable was due to appear in a webchat to be 'quizzed' on issues relating to the police.

Warwickshire Police said in a statement: "Police officers conducting a criminal investigation into a number of people with current or past associations with Cleveland Police Authority and the manner in which the authority may have conducted some of its business have this morning arrested three people on suspicion of misconduct in a public office, fraud by abuse of position and corrupt practice."

"Two men and a woman were arrested and have been taken to a police station in North Yorkshire where they will be interviewed later today. A number of premises are being searched in connection with these arrests."

The Independent Police Complaints Commission also released a statement, which said: "The IPCC can confirm that it has been informed of developments and would anticipate referrals from the police authority."

Yep. Not one to paraphrase NWA, but: `999 is a joke` (with the exception of fire and ambulance - at least for me, anyway).

Tip of the iceberg.

I've had enough experience with police, solicitors, courts and the media over the last few years to see that professionalism is a lost art in these occupations. Police commit perjury with impunity in view of a colluding court and right wing media who enjoy seeing people 'go down'.

We're heading towards dark times in this country.

Why does this remind of the bad old days of the 70's & 80's? Guess Mr.Bridger was right when he said "Freddie, EVERYONE is Bent."
And the police wonder why criminals like Raoul Moat & others have almost folk hero status in some places in this country. When just as bloody bad.
I had my own run in with them at the age of 17, during the miners' strike. my crime? taking sandwiches for the pickets and the local police on the picket line.

No ethics in business...... no ethics in the police ..........

Where are the good people hiding ? It is time to speak up for honest, ethical behavior.

Same old police...nothing here to see. Move on...

A while back. A guy found dead on waste ground near where I live. I walk by police cordon, piece everywhere. I ask a policeman what's going on. he says,''Can't tell you,'' And he indicated with his hand (I quote you:: Nothing here to see. move on. Very Star Wars).

A few minutes later I spoke to groups of neighbours hanging around looking on. General consensus was ''an idiot took an overdose of bad drugs.''

Next day in the press: ''Close-knit local community shocked by death of local man''.
Reality: ''Fragmented community could not care less as addict dies in street''.

I gave up on the mainstream media a while back. My simple brain could not handle the daily litany of lies and spin.
