I think an awful lot of people in their 30s in Britain (like myself) are stunned by how rapidly society in Britain has degenerated since we were kids in the 80s. You're supposed to be about 60 before such horrendous changes are perceptible. I hate what has happened to this country's basic common sense and dignity and people in the UK are starting to stand up and open their mouths. The idea that we're all a bunch of racists is absolutely laughable in a capital where you're 87 times more likely to have non-white friends that people in the rest of Europe combined. All this kind of crucifixion of public figures does is make the simmering tempers of ordinary people boil. The weirdest thing for me as a Londoner has actually been to see how Asian kids are now wholesale acting like something they're not and joining in the mindless thuggery of those around them - THAT, for me, is a very worrying sign as Asians in Britain overwhelming come from far stronger and more respectable family values systems than even most white kids today. THAT concerns me greatly.

Why were the BBC being blamed for the opinions aired in a live interview, surely it is Starkey who should be being vilified.

Thank goodness for common sense, it is in short supply these days.
