Daily Mail's Simon Heffer Says Bloggers Are Best Writers

Simon Heffer, creator of the Daily Mail’s opinion website RightMinds, has said blogs offer some of the best writing available today.

Speaking to the Guardian Heffer also admitted that RightMinds has struggled with a slow start but was now starting to grow a readership.

“Blogs are less considered, more raw, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Indeed, blogs are among some of the best writing one sees today,” he said.

“It’s clearly a less formal sort of writing. And I think it would be very counter-productive to change a blogger’s voice. So we don’t.

“We all have our own styles of writing. I write a certain way and I don’t expect my bloggers to emulate me,” he said smiling, apparently.

Heffer also explains that he had always harboured a deep enthusiasm for digital publishing and even does his all of his shopping online.

“It is the future,” he said.
