A "dinosaur mummy", two colourful swirling ammonites and a triceratops' skull have gone to auction at Sothebys Paris. The mummy, a tenontosaure dinosaur fossil, which is folded in on itself, sold for 320.000 euros.

Two pretty ammonites displaying opal-like colours, sold for 110,000 and 30,000 euros each.

The fossils are rare, but the chance to purchase them was almost rarer still. Such significant fossils are almost all housed in museums and never meet the open market.
