Liam Fox Wants To Return To Frontline Politics

Disgraced former defence secretary Liam Fox has admitted he would like to return to frontline politics in his first broadcast interview after his resignation this month.

"I would certainly like to get back to the front bench. How quickly is another matter, and for the moment I will enjoy having a little bit of extra time. There are one or two projects that I want to get involved in on the charitable side, and to devote some time to things that I have wanted to do and been unable to", he told BBC Radio Bristol.

On Monday morning he claimed that journalists had doorstepped his 14-year-old nephew.

"It's quite disconcerting. Relatives are phoning up because they are upset - even to the point where one of my nephews who is 14 was being doorstepped and that was unacceptable.

"We need to understand that we have to have a free press, that is a very important part of a free society. A free press doesn't mean the press can do what they want. If you spend all your time reading blogs and newspapers, you are not going to get very much work done."
