Well there's good news people as we finally have our answer - their love of smart cars.
Simon Cowell has given up driving around in ridiculously expensive motors and has traded in his famous £300,000 Rolls Royce for a £15,000 Smart Car.
We knew The X Factor USA wasn't going that well but we didn't realise things were quite that bad...
The supremo was spotted outside the LA studios of the show in his new wheels, and despite Smart cars being some of the smallest on the market, Simon somehow managed to look like a teeny tiny elf.
Suppose Cuban heels won't make you any taller when you're sat down.
Anyway, we may think he looks a little silly, but Simon really doesn't seem to care as he tweeted: "Everyone is laughing at my new car. But I love it and it glows in the dark!"
Boys and their toys eh?
One person who Simon was probably never used to sharing his toys with is his brother Tony, as he has described growing up with Simon as a 'living hell'.
Tony Cowell told Star magazine how the music mogul made his life difficult as a child, comparing him to a character in a film who becomes possessed by an evil spirit.
"Growing up with Simon was hell. He was like that kid Damien from the film The Omen. He was a really difficult child," he said.
We can imagine.
