Russell Brand Divorce

Russell Brand and Katy Perry have announced that they are to divorce.

In a statement, the 36-year-old comedian said: "Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."

Brand and the pop singer married in October 2010 in India.

WENN reported that documents filed in Los Angeles, blame "irreconcilable differences" for the split.

The news comes following weeks of speculation about the state of the couple's marriage, which went into overdrive a week ago when it became clear Brand and I Kissed a Girl singer Perry would not be spending Christmas together. Instead, both were pictured without their wedding rings - Perry on vacation in Hawaii and Brand in London.

In a recent interview, Brand dismissed report that his marriage was in trouble, telling Ellen DeGeneres: "I am really happily married.... I'm married to Katy. Perpetually, until death do us part was the pledge. I'm still alive."

Brand and Perry are not the first high profile celebrity couple to split up this year. Kim Kardashian, Tiger Woods and Madonna also went through high profile divorces with their respective partners in 2011.

very bad idea to get a divorce. celebrities spend too much time apart, especially after just getting married. That's a deal breaker every time. Like Jolie/Pitt, who make sure they see each other every week, regardless of schedules, proximity to & with each other is essential in a marriage or relationship. Absence does not make the heart grow fonder; it makes the heart grow yander.

what a shame but not a surprise. so he leaves his underwear on the floor what man doesnt? apparantly he wanted children and she doesnt thats an unusual twist. she could sitll have a career and children a lot do. perhaps they can sort out their differences.

As a Brit, I strenuously object to classifying Brand as a 'celebrity'. He is a self-obsessed, so-called comedian. There isn't a shred of genuine talent to celebrate. His sole purpose is to represent how not to behave, both as a 'comic' and a human being.

Marry an immature halfwit and it'll end in tears.

I am truly shocked..... that anyone finds this dribble newsworthy. They both suck eggs.

Giving a Yanks view of the State of English Humour from the other side of the Pond. Charlie Chaplin started it all. Bob Hope was an absolute gem, and your best export besides the Beatles. Peter Sellers was a total genius. Dudley Moore had great delivery. Monty Python, half great; Cleese, Idle & Palin, but half boring. Christopher Guest, hilarious in Spinal Tap. Bennie Hill, a true humourist who deserved an MBE. But this skinny-ar$ed twit, Russel Brand is pathetic. He hosted SNL here, and I had the misfortune of watching the show. The man simply has no talent, NONE. He appears as one who lacks a basic hygine regimen, and I suspect that Katy could no longer put up with his habits. Especially, the one where he would leave his undershorts lying hither and yon, oft times complete with 'skid marks'.

She must have asked him to smile first thing every morning to show those ghastly teeth and remind her of why she married him in the first place. My God, he has more gums than Wrigley.

Looks like both their egos were too big to handle one another. What a surprise.

Who are these people?

What value are they to my life?

Why should I care what they get up to?

(but if Kate is now free, I can accommodate her for a few evenings)

You should know who they are because they are used to fill reams of news postings in place of real news about real event that have real repercussions on your life. So consider that every time you see them prominently placed on copy, there is something out there that is much more importance which you would otherwise be informed about had they not been prominently placed in front of your viewing space.

Now can I get back to my diabolical plan to incorporate Ms Perry in my evil plot for world domination? You will all be mine!

Get in the queue Pal, they'll call your number, 110762 about the time she starts to collect her pension.
12:19 PM on 01/02/2012
then why write about them
01:26 PM on 01/02/2012
Misery guts, obviously you don't like sarcasm, besides which

I'll write what I like, about whom I like, and take no critique from someone who, if I feel like it, I will also write about.

Why do people like this get married? Or more to the point, why does society let them get married? They are far too immature to make any promises to anyone, let alone lifetime promises to each other. There really ought to be a law that prevents them from marrying anyone else for at least the next five years. Or perhaps the state should 'freeze' some assets so that we can guarantee that any fall-out from their relationships can be compensated.
