Comedy star Miranda Hart has emerged as an unlikely replacement for Alesha Dixon on Strictly Come Dancing.

The comedienne, a self-professed fan of the dancing competition, has been tipped to become a new judge after the former Mis-Teeq star defected to Britain's Got Talent.

A TV source tells the Daily Mail: "(The current selection of contenders are) all so obvious. The producers want someone really startling.

"Miranda is seen as a brilliant left-field choice. She totally loves the show and is incredibly popular with the viewing public.

"We think she could bring something completely different to the panel because of her wit, instead of just being some glamorous dolly bird."

A number of female contenders are said to be in the running to join Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood on the panel - Zoe Ball, Kara Tointon, Nicole Scherzinger and Karen Hardy have all been put forward for the job.

While I absolutely love Miranda Hart I don't think she would be a good judge on Strictly....why not see if Arlene could be tempted back? If not how about Karen Hardy - she would be good because she knows about dancing!

God forbid that she gets the job. I certainly won't be watching any more if she does. Who's in charge of deciding who the public wants to see on these programmes? Perhaps we should be asked.

NO NO NO!! is it not bad enough with Christine Beakey set to ruin Dancing On Ice? This woman is in no position to comment on the hard work and effort people put in to dancing, walking down a hill with Bear Grylls looked like far too much effort for her. The woman is a clown, sarcastic comments and upstaging would ruin this show. She was embarrasing on The Big Fat Quiz Of The Year, Is it just me or is she on everything at the moment?
