Ed Miliband's 'Blackbusters' Twitter Tribute To Bob Holness Causes Embarrassment

First Posted: 06/01/12 14:28 Updated: 06/01/12 17:27

Poor Ed Miliband really is having a terrible start to 2012, incorrectly paying tribute to Bob Holness' show as "Blackbusters" on Twitter.

Holness, The former host of 80s cult TV Show Blockbusters - yes BLOCKbusters, Ed, died on Friday. He was 83. He'd also hosted a slew of other quiz shows and having garnered legions of student fans, ended up appearing on comedies later in his life.

The Labour Leader hasn't been seen since the start of the New Year, prompting many to begin a wry game in the media called "Where's Ed?"

But Ed Miliband has appeared in the media in a roundabout way, firstly on Thursday when he rang gaffe-prone shadow minister Diane Abbott whilst she was live on Sky News, and now on Friday with a Twitter tribute which has backfired.

The best joke going around Twitter on Friday afternoon? "I'd like an O, please, Bob."

Here's some more reaction...

Mister Ed made me laugh and provided all the cover Mrs Abbott needs following her previous gaffe. I don't think I can trust the Labour party with Twitter... let alone something important like the economy or government...

I would have thought that he would have more important things to spend his time on than Twitter, are we learn that he has a Farcebook account next?

that's what happens when a labour leader attempts to think for himself!
08:55 on 08/01/2012
And the UK would be safe in his hands?????????

Let's all hope that he remains leader of the opposition party for many decades to come.

I honestly believe that the wrong Miliband was given the post of Labour Leader. His brother is more diplomatic and is well versed in such things.

He is too good for labour because today labour is worse then tory so he could join EDL because thry need cool guy like this one. EDL is saying they are there to defend England and way of life so labour is there to bring more immigrants in their millions? This is why he may not be best looking for right wing politicians and labour knows they will win with this guy who is a cool so part like tory, EDL and BNP love this guy.

At least "blackbusters" wasn't as bad as "on the buses" or "love thy neighbour".

If Ed Miliband had written this post, it would read 'In the Bushes' and 'Shove Thy Neighbour'.

I would laugh if the man wasn't the leader of the labour opposition party AND expecting to be the next prime minister. You could just imagine it, "oops! pressed the wrong button - sorry Russia!" He should go, along with Abbott and resign - the man's a fool!

is that Bud or Russ

there is a safety factor regards pressing buttons,we have to ask Americas permission first as the missiles are controlled by American technology so you can sleep soundly until America get trigger happy again!!
