This Week In Entertainment: Adele, Katy Perry, Jeremy Clarkson, Madonna, Avatar 2

This Week In Entertainment

This week the world of entertainment was launched head-first into awards season and, by Jove, haven't we noticed?

Poptastic Perry was noticeably absent from the Los Angeles event - her well-publicised marriage split from Russell Brand meant she didn't fancy getting her glad rags on, but that didn't stop her pulling in the prizes.

Even more welcome than the list of nods was news that Adele will be back on stage for the February ceremony, leaving us holding out to hear how she can possible top last year's show-stealer. She picked up three nominations to boot, however, it was the brightly-haired Ed Sheeran who picked up the most nods with four. Including British Album of the Year, for which he'll go head to head with the Someone Like You singer.

Hollywood was agape at the news Avatar 2 has been delayed until 2016, leaving fans of the 3D fantasy adventure disappointed. Director James Cameron had initially spoken of his hopes to release the sequel in December 2014.

However, another film arrived in style in London this week, as Madonna joined W.E. stars Andrea Riseborough and James D'Arcy for the premiere of her directorial debut. The 53-year-old shined on the red carpet as she told reporters: "This movie shows that there is no such thing as perfect love."

And finally, it turned out obnoxious Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson had managed to upset a whole nation with his comments on the 2011 Christmas Top Gear Special, filmed in India, where he poked fun at the country's stereotype, driving a Jaguar customised with a loo-seat.

The Indian High Commission in London formally complained to the BBC about the nature of the programme, saying it had been misled, while Clarkson observers once again commented on his ability to cause offence in his sleep.
