The Guinness World Records 2012 Gamers' Edition launched at Liverpool Street Station with the world's biggest games controller.
The world's most successful Pokemon playing family, the first female Street Fighter champion, a man who spent 18 minutes playing Super Mario Galaxy in a wind tunnel and Ryan Hart, the man with the most international Street Fighter wins.
Ben Allen, one of the engineering students who built the world's largest gaming controller said: "Even Guinness were surprised at how large it was when we brought it into their office."
Gamer Sami Cetin demonstrated the kind of dedication it takes to be a champion gamer. At the celebration, he said: "With time and dedication and a lot of practice, I think anyone can reach their goals if they really want to go for it."
Sami's goal was to be the fastest at completing a Mario Kart circuit 1 round, and with years of practice, he certainly achieved that.
